Need to transfer your prescriptions to Holly Pharmacy?

Don’t worry, it’s easy! Simply call Holly Pharmacy at 905-878-9001 and tell us which pharmacy you are transferring from, which prescriptions you would like transferred, and whether you would like those prescriptions to be filled or put on hold. We’ll do the rest!

How long does a transfer take?

Most transfer are sent via fax, and processing and transmission times vary. If the pharmacy that we are transferring from is not busy, then the information can be received in as little as ten minutes. Busier pharmacies may take longer to transfer to us. If you are transferring multiple medications, your transfer may take longer.

Are there any medications that cannot be transferred?

Narcotics and controlled substances cannot usually be transferred. This includes:

  • Opioids (e.g. morphine, hydromorphone)

  • Anabolic steroids (e.g. testosterone)

  • Many ADHD medications (e.g. Concerta®, Biphentin®, Vyvanse®)

  • Benzodiazepines* (e.g. lorazepam, clonazepam)

Also note that prescriptions which originated outside of Canada cannot be transferred. Your prescription must be written by a licensed Canadian prescriber.

If you are unsure whether your prescription can be transferred, feel free to ask a Holly Pharmacy team member.

*Benzodiazepines can be transferred once, and cannot be re-transferred. Benzodiazepine prescriptions older than one year cannot be transferred, even if there are refills remaining and the prescription has not been transferred before.

What if I need to transfer a prescription that has no refills left?

If a prescription does not have any refills left, it can still be transferred to Holly Pharmacy, and a pharmacy team member can contact your physician or nurse for more refills (if your physician or nurse allows). Speak with a Holly Pharmacy team member to learn more.
